How to Avoid Holiday Weight Gain Part 2

Just because the holidays are here doesn’t mean that weight gain in inevitable!

With so many parties, sweets and cocktails around, it can be difficult to stay slim during the holidays. Luckily, there are many tips that can help you stay slim, and you can read about a couple of them by checking out our latest blog. The following is a list from our medical weight loss experts in Alexandria and Arlington of our last few tips to help you avoid holiday weight gain:

#3. Replace sugary mixers with soda water in cocktails. 

Cocktails and the holidays go together like peanut butter and jelly, but that doesn’t mean that you have to sip down 300-400 calorie cocktails! You can really slim down your cocktails by replacing surgery mixers, like juice or soda, with soda water.

#4. Bring something healthy!

Sick of being tempted by all those cakes and cookies? Set an example and bring your own healthy dish to parties! This way, you know that there will be something healthy and delicious for you to eat. Chances are, you won’t be the only one looking for a healthier alternative, and it will make those other treats less tempting.

#5. Make extra time for working out. 

If you know that you will be consuming extra calories, put in some extra time in your workout to burn those excess calories. Not only will an extra half an hour in the gym burn more calories, but all of that hard work may just make you think twice before grabbing another cookie.
